Who is the shorty?

Along the Routeburn Track.

Hiking, especially solo hiking, started off as an obsessive distraction from life. Now, I just want to hang out with the trees.

My thirties seemed like it was straight out of a rom-com movie - the break-up of a long-term relationship, introspection, finding new hobbies, dating again, and traveling to a foreign country to ‘find myself’. Peru was my India. Damn, I did it all. I even wrote a book about it, I called it, ‘STUCK: Friends, Loves and the Obscurity of In Between.’ Pretty catchy isn’t it? Looking back, that season was so cathartic, full of growth and gave me the space to become the woman I am today.

Today, I’m a 40-something curious optimist with creaky knees. I have a big butt, chunky thighs and shakin’ more jelly than Destiny’s Child. I still love to hike, but I no longer see it as a distraction from life. I’m a Graphic Designer in Whakatāne, New Zealand, fueled by soy mochas and 80s power ballads. I write about my hiking adventures in The Local Tourist blogs, or catch up on my life and love in Always Looking Up. Catch you on the next adventure!
